Bad Doggies - Southern Soul & Bluesrock from the heart of Mälardalen. Bad Doggies is a five-piece band with its heart deeply rooted in the music of the American South - where blues, soul and rock meet in a swinging and emotional expression.
The band may be relatively new, but the members are far from newcomers. With roots around Mälardalen and Stockholm, Bad Doggies offers a vibrant mix of guitar-driven
blues rock and soul-funky groove.
The music is inspired by greats like Gov't Mule, Tedeschi Trucks Band, ZZ Top, Bonnie Raitt, The Allman Brothers Band, Little Feat, Larkin Poe, Blackberry Smoke and Jon Cleary - but we always make the material our own, with an energetic and playful joy of playing.
The band consists of:
Adam Atterby - Vocals, Guitar
Madeleine Wideland - Vocals, Percussion
Anders Wideland - Guitar
Claes Fall - Bass
Arnulf Ibsen - Drums
Behind the band is a solid experience from both stage and studio. Individually, the members have collaborated and played with Swedish and international names such as Wanda Jackson, Bill Öhrström, Roffe Wikström, Robert Broberg, Louise Hoffsten, Titiyo, Oscar Brown Jr, Anders F Rönnblom, Mikael Rickfors, Kayo, Clas Yngström, Svante Thuresson, Monica Dominique and others.
This band knows how to deliver on stage - whether it's an intimate club gig or a major festival.
Southern rock and funk blues is a bit of a rare bird on Swedish stages - and the Bad Doggies are taking on the task of spreading this warm, vibrant and swinging music to more people.
It's all about groove, emotion and joy of playing - all delivered with real musical weight.
Mats Pettersson; Dressing
Mats Pettersson is a singer and guitarist from Stockholm. At the age of ten, in the early 1970s, he discovered the blues through a radio programme. A few years later he learnt to play guitar on his own with the help of a book on American folk music, where songs by Leadbelly, Kingston Trio and Pete Seeger became early signposts.
After many years as a performing musician in electric blues and rock, Mats found his way back to his acoustic roots. With a soulful voice and a broad guitar style, Mats carries clear influences from role models such as Rev. Gary Davis, Son House, Mississippi John Hurt, R.L. Burnside and Leadbelly.
During his concerts, Mats shows a wide musical range from the raw and evocative Hill Country blues to the ragtime-influenced Piedmont blues, but also the singing tradition of spirituals.
In the spring of 2025, Mats recorded an album in New Orleans with the legendary Washboard Chaz. The album reflects his great breadth in the acoustic blues and was released in autumn 2025 on vinyl, CD and digital platforms.
Mats also composes more sonic and ambient, folk-influenced music inspired by his ancestors in the folk music tradition of Uppland.
