Our cosy beds and famous breakfast<\/a><\/span> makes every overnight stay a pure pleasure.<\/p>

We offer 112 charming hotel room<\/a><\/span> <\/strong>with a total of 292 beds, including options where our four-legged friends are welcome. For business travellers and party organisers, we have four conference rooms<\/a><\/strong><\/span> which can accommodate everything from small meetings to major events<\/a> for up to 110 people. Our restaurant<\/a> <\/strong>and two bars<\/a><\/span><\/strong> serves delicious food and drinks, and our inviting courtyard with two boules courts offers plenty of space to relax.<\/p>

Take part in our fun activities! With us you will find a cosy gaming room<\/a><\/strong><\/span> which can be hired for various games, including shuffleboard, darts, cornhole and table tennis. We also organise tailor-made firmer<\/u><\/a><\/strong>, weddings and corporate events. For groups and conferences, we offer guided tours where you get to experience Uppsala, including the Botanical Garden, Uppsala Castle, Uppsala Cathedral and the Linnaeus Garden, as well as activities such as team building, kayaking in Fyris\u00e5n and mountain bike adventures out in Sunnersta.<\/p>

Green and sustainable<\/strong><\/p>

We are proud to be in the process of becoming Green Key certified and work daily to reduce our environmental impact. By not selling bottled water, only cleaning long-term guests' rooms daily on demand and only using environmentally certified cleaning and personal care products, we strive to become a role model in sustainable hotel operations.<\/p>

History and vision<\/strong>
In the mid-17th century, Olof Rudbeck, one of Uppsala's most famous professors, bought the \u00d6rtedalen neighbourhood to build a botanical garden. In 1702, Uppsala was hit by a devastating fire that destroyed large parts of the city, including Rudbeck's botanical garden and the surrounding buildings.<\/p>

In 1741, Carl Linnaeus took over and restored the garden, making it one of the world's foremost botanical gardens. This led to the garden being named the Linnaeus Garden. In 1743, an orangery was built, which still remains in the garden.<\/p>

Skolgatan 45, where Hotel Botanika is located today, was at that time a farm belonging to Linn\u00e9tr\u00e4dg\u00e5rden, with stables and barns for cattle and horses.<\/p>

In modern times, from 1936 to 1975, our premises were used as student accommodation for Uppsala University. The building, known as Funkishuset, was nicknamed Klosettpalatset because it was the first student accommodation with its own water toilet and shower for each room. It is said that all the students once got together and flushed their toilets at the same time, causing the sewer system to overflow!<\/p>

After this period, a remodelling began that eventually turned the building into a hotel, and in 1982 Hotel Linn\u00e9 was opened. The buildings then stood empty for several years before we took over and put our personal touch on the premises. On 20 April 2020, we opened the doors to Hotel Botanika.<\/p>

Our vision is to offer a playful, sustainable and personalised hotel experience that is different from the big hotel chains. As a privately owned hotel, we have the freedom to create a unique and inviting atmosphere that our guests love.
